Safety and Training

The safety and well being of all workers on the project will always receive our top priority and is considered a fundamental goal of a successful project.  This is reflected by our company's present Experience Modification Record (EMR) which is 0.62.  The norm in the industry is 1.00.

Our company has a certified MSHA Safety Instructor employed to assure all MSHA requirements are kept current.

Wollam will develop and implement a project specific safety plan that includes the requirements and procedures of Wollam and MSHA or OSHA.

Our project safety program includes:

  •  Site specific hazards

  •  Accident and illness prevention

  •  Drug and alcohol policy

  •  Safety and first aid training

  •  Responsibility and accountability

  •  Safety and Health rules, policies and programs

  •  First aid and emergency plans

  •  Personal protective equipment

  •  Site safety committee

  •  Site Safety meetings and Team Think and Plan sessions

  •  Safety inspections and audits

  •  Safe work permits

  •  Subcontractor safety

  •  Hazardous Materials management

  •  Process safety management

  •  Accident Management

  •  Safety incentives and rewards

  •  Enforcement and disciplinary actions

  •  Reporting and record keeping

As with quality we will involve all levels and all employees in daily and weekly safety meetings to educate, identify hazards, communicate, and enforce safe work procedures as an integrated part of the overall project planning process.

We will also encourage the owners management and safety representatives to participate in the project safety plan, process, and meetings.

On one of our more recently completed projects a Project Safety Bonus was realized.  This bonus was paid to all of the employees that worked on the project.
